Excellent layout, I have three books in the series and all are excellent reference material to have on hand.

Pros
Everything about them, who’ll expensive for the size, this is more than compensated for by the amount of information provided in such a compact package

Cons
Can’t say a bad thing about any of them!

Electrical Black Book Aus/NZ 2nd Ed

May 22, 2020 By: Luke (Mandurang South, Australia)

Comments
Good little book, will come in handy just like the other black books.

Pros
Covers just about everything

Cons
There’s a couple of minor mistakes (which may have already been pointed out &/or fixed):
RT equation on p57 (Thevenin’s Theorem) shows R2 as R1.
AWG example on p98 derives an answer of 5 AWG instead of 16 AWG.
Transformer configurations on p169 should be shown below the text.
Transformer voltage table on p170 lists some rarely encountered voltages (e.g. 208V, 2400V), but not 400/415V which is the standard three-phase voltage in Australia. The three-phase transformer current values seem to be wrong also (e.g. a 100kVA transformer is rated at ~140A per phase at 240V, not 241A).

Overall I like the work that was done to come up with this material. However, your website says that the book come with a multimeter. Mine didn't come with it.

Pros
Excellent guide, amazing work, and quality of the paper, handy for anyone working in the field or plant.

Cons
The website or all review said it come with a multimeter,???

Brilliant little book for those in the trade

April 26, 2020 By: Sparky (Lamington, Australia)

Ripper little book to have around that covers a lot of basic topics. Found it a great resource and bought a couple to give to the apprentices as it covers some of those questions they probably aren't up to scratch with and feel embarrassed to ask.

Pros
-Great career steer for young apprentices/TAs/green sparkys
-Lot of niche things like conduit bends and lot of the basic stuff that trade school gives but you forget in time
-Additional resources (drill guides/conversion factors)
-Durable

Cons
-Limited motor theory but enough to get going, great skill for house bashers not exposed to it
-Would be a complete package if there was a basic fault-finding section for mine sparkys to rip into (surprising how many cannot diagnose simple RCD trips in domestic situations logically)
-Some filler material in there for sure

AS/NZS Second Edition

April 14, 2020 By: Liam (Perth, Australia)

Comments
Before purchasing the book I was a bit hesitant due to the price. However, since it was Australian specific I bit the bullet and picked up a copy and it is hands down the second-best book investment I have made after the NZS/AS 3008. I would love to see a desktop version in the future.

Pros
. Australian specific, with reference to other countries when relevant
. Alot of relevent laws, rules and formulas

Cons
. No reference to mandatory testing (that I can find)

Machinery's Handbook of Electricity

March 7, 2020 By: John Kesl, Dippin Rings (New York, United States)

Comments
The Electrical Black Book is excellent. It's a must have reference for anyone dealing with electricity. Period. Much like the standard of reference for all things manufacturing The Machinery's Handbook, I'd consider the Electrical Black Book a definitive necessity for electrical reference as none of the information here, is as well compiled or presented elsewhere. The breath of the information compiled is also staggering. From connectors to motors to wire code to drill tap sizes, decimal equivalent and everything in between that's related to or incidental to electricity somehow....which is a lot of extra stuff. The only thing lacking is a listing of all Certification Agencies, such as Intertek, arguably one of the largest, is not listed, credibility aside, as a reference all agencies found on labels as certifiers of fitness should be mentioned.

Pros
-Concise
-Comprehensive
-Portable
-Functional
-Handy
-Portable

Cons
-Missing some certification agencies such as Intertek (ETL), in the section that deals with such Agencies. Credibility aside all agencies should be listed as they are accredited and allowed to Certify a products fitness. ETL is used by OSHA and hence should at least have mention as well as explanation of difference between them and UL for instance.
